Meta Ads Budget Calculator

There is a daily budget below which a Facebook or Instagram campaign mathematically cannot work. This works out what yours is. Free, no signup, no email.

Enter your target cost per result to see the minimum budget.

Minimum daily budget = target cost per result × 50 ÷ 7  ·  Meta needs about 50 conversion events per ad set per week to exit the learning phase.

Why 50 events a week

Meta's delivery system spends the first stretch of a campaign building a model of who converts. Until it has roughly 50 conversion events per ad set per week, that model is unreliable, and the ad set sits in "Learning Limited".

During the learning phase your cost per result typically runs 20–50% above where it would eventually settle. If the budget never produces 50 events a week, that inflated cost is not a phase you pass through — it is where you stay.

What the numbers look like

$15$108$750
$30$215$1,500
$50$358$2,500

Optimise for a cheaper event

The most useful adjustment available, and the least discussed. You do not have to optimise for Purchase. If purchases cost $15 but Add to Cart costs $3, optimising for Add to Cart needs only about $22 a day to reach 50 events a week. You are teaching the algorithm with a weaker signal — but a weaker signal it can learn from beats a perfect signal it cannot.

Consolidate into one ad set

The instinct with a small budget is to split it across several audiences to see what works. That is backwards. Each ad set needs its own 50 events a week. Five ad sets on $100 a day gives each one $20, all five sit in Learning Limited forever, and you learn nothing from any of them. One broader ad set with the whole budget will exit learning.

What does not work

Waiting. Learning Limited is a volume problem, not a time problem. A campaign generating 20 conversions a week will generate 20 next week too.

Once it is running, change nothing for seven days

This is the hardest instruction in advertising, and the one that decides whether the campaign works. Budget changes of 20% or more, any targeting change, a new ad added to a live ad set — each one restarts learning, and you pay for the inflated learning period again.

The rule most people miss is cumulative: Meta measures against where the ad set started, not against your last edit. Three separate 10% raises in one week add up to 33% and reset learning, even though no single change looked risky.

More on this in six edits that restart Meta's learning phase and the learning phase explained.
